Building Maintenance Worker - Rosemount, MN

The Building Maintenance Worker performs manual labor for cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of the Rosemount Community Center, Arena, Steeple Center, Family Resource Center and Park Shelters resulting in timely and efficient general services to the entire operation.

Must enjoy working with the public and successfully pass a background check.

Anticipated work schedule will be primarily during the late afternoon, evenings and weekends with occasional weekday hours.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates ice resurfacer, ice edger and performs other ice making and maintenance procedures
  • performs ice resurfacer maintenance including changing the blade, greasing, battery maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Monitors arena and building mechanical systems
  • investigates mechanical problems and performs minor repairs
  • monitors HVAC and other building equipment
  • greases pumps and changes belts
  • assists with the coordination of contractor maintenance and repair services.
  • Provides interior maintenance of assigned areas including the maintenance of floors, walls, tables, chairs and emptying waste baskets
  • performs manual labor including cleaning.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of equipment including vacuums, automatic and single disk floor scrubbers, extractors, wet vacs, power sprayers, carpet cleaner and indoor lifts
  • replaces light bulbs, filters, and performs minor repair of door hardware.
  • Performs manual labor for upkeep of grounds including pick up trash on building grounds, weeding and mulching, , salting, sanding, shoveling, and snow removal
  • Opens buildings and provides lockdown services in the evening
  • provides room set-up and equipment
  • operates audiovisual equipment
  • assists with vendor refunds/maintenance issues with vending machines
  • Monitors the facilities to maintain a clean and safe environment for all users
  • follows established safety practices as set by the City of Rosemount

  • responds to alarm calls for the facilities
  • monitors service levels of fire extinguishers and defibrillators.
  • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with coworkers
  • works in conjunction with supervisors, Building Attendants, and other Building Maintenance Workers to complete necessary tasks
  • shows new coworkers operation and maintenance procedures
  • assists in determining operational priorities;
  • attends necessary meetings and training.
  • Collects ice rental fees, open skating fees and skate sharpening fees when needed
  • sharpens ice skates
  • monitors maintenance products and pro shop inventory and assists with ordering of various products and supplies.
  • Works with patrons of the arena, community center or Steeple Center
  • communicates effectively with them to see that their needs are met
  • trouble shoots concerns that may arise with customers using the facilities and notifies supervisor of issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of building maintenance experience.
  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of experience in building maintenance.
  • One or more years of experience in community center/ice arena operations.
  • One or more years of experience operating ice resurfacer.
  • US Ice Rink Association Certified Ice Technician.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of operating characteristics of assigned equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable work hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to perform routine cleaning procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Chaparral Ice is looking to fill the Chief Operations Officer role to assist with all functions and projects within the Executive Staff including, but not limited to facility operations oversight, customer service quality control, scheduling and payroll oversight, front desk staff management, in-house marketing, event/ revenue solicitation, subtenant management, and general administrative duties. KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven 10 year+ history in multi-sport or event center operations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid drivers’ license
  • Highly effective problem-solving abilities and leadership skills required.
  • Excellent people skills; ability to interact professionally with internal/external partners at all levels in the organization.

Facility Maintenance
• Maintain a flawless facility which exceeds guest expectations
• Provide services as required for special events, tournaments and competitions.
