The City of Auburn has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, organized, multi-talented individual to oversee the operational performance of the NSBA double surface Ice Arena. The Operations Manager reports directly to the Director of Recreation. The position requires a combination of administrative, managerial, technical, professional, supervisory and hands-on work. Duties include but not limited to managing personnel and volunteers, scheduling ice time and coordinating events, maintaining a facility operation manual, safety, overseeing subcontractors, public events, and capital improvement management.


Successful candidate must have knowledge of park administration, recreation and/or sports management, ice arena management and maintenance procedures, budgeting, marketing, and event planning and scheduling. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and written and oral communications skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to tolerate working in a cold environment. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Sports Management, Facilities Management, Public Administration, Business, Marketing or similar education, plus three years of managing a business or non-profit agency or working in the public sector. Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

The Program Director at the William L. Chase Arena will work closely with the Vice President of Programming & Services, programming department leadership, headquarters staff, and facility staff. Facilities Manager - Boston, MA

POSITION: Facilities Manager
REPORTS TO: Club Director

SUMMARY:
The Skating Club of Boston is a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating and a primary center for high performance training and recreational skating in the United States. The position of Facilities Manager will report directly to the Club Director, and work in coordination with other staff members on a day-to- day basis. The position requires an experience and mature professional who can work with and without close supervision, and who will be responsible to their work and not the clock.

MAJOR AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct work with building automation, chillers, dehumidification and heat recovery system
  • Ensure proper building and management standards are maintained at all times
  • Opening and closing building, following all security procedures
  • Ice resurfacing and other regular ice maintenance
  • Perform general equipment maintenance and repair, including maintenance of equipment logs
  • Building cleaning, including restrooms, trash removal, etc.
  • Four season landscape and parking lot maintenance, including snow and ice removal to keep public walk and driveways clear and clean
  • Meeting room and special event set-up and break down
  • Management of special projects, which could include interior and exterior painting, landscape additions, installation and removal of seasonal dehumidification equipment, etc.

COMMITMENT
Full time, with the flexibility to work weekend and early morning shifts, some holidays, special events [scheduled] and emergencies [unscheduled].

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience driving an ice resurfacer and operating other ice maintenance equipment.
  • Certified Ice Technician preferred
  • Must be highly motivated to learn new skills, (ice edging) that are essential for a successful rink operation
  • Must be able to take initiative and demonstrate accountability and reliability
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in recreation facility preferred

The Montgomery County Parks Enterprise Division is seeking an Ice Operations Manager to provide oversight of all maintenance pertaining to the three ice surfaces (NHL, Studio, Olympic Rinks) including dasherboard systems and glass; oversight and maintenance of all ice equipment to include three ice resurfacers, ice edgers, and ice making equipment; oversight and maintenance of building equipment to include CO sensors, fire suppression system, security system, HVAC, and building inspections; oversight and maintenance of the two refrigeration systems (Glycol/R22 and Ammonia plants) and other associated components to include energy efficient compressors, two dehumidification units, two cooling towers, etc.; as well as oversee ground maintenance. This position will also provide oversight of custodian services, trash and recycling, pest control, building maintenance, projects, contract management, and asset management. Additional tasks will include procurement, budget management, personnel management (hiring, training and supervising custodians, skate guards, and zam drivers), maintaining the rental skate inventory, maintaining three skate sharpening machines, and emergency response. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The incumbent will be expected to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and serve as a manager on duty during various scheduled shifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; and

2. Two years of responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, health education, physical education, communication, leisure services, or area of required specialty; or

3. An equivalent combination of education and experience;

Ice Park Operations Coordinator - Springfield, MO

The Springfield-Greene County Parks Department is looking for a dedicated individual to join our team at the Jordan Valley Ice Park.

Our award-winning Ice Park was established in 2001, and is Southeast Missouri's only Ice Rink. The two story facility boasts two, 17,000 square feet rinks. The facility is home to the MSU Ice Bears, Springfield Youth Hockey Association and Jordan Valley Figure Skating Club. The facility hosts a number of events including Mixed Martial Arts events, concerts, trade shows, and more. Don't miss the chance to join our team!

This position will require a working knowledge of the operation of ice plant and resurfacing equipment, as well as the principles, methods, and equipment involved in ice park facility maintenance and cleaning. This position is responsible for performing maintenance duties as required, and should be capable of responding to and resolving building related problems and/or service requests in a timely manner. The incumbent of this position must be able to work independently, as well as in a team dynamic.

Examples of Duties/Essential Functions:

Facility Maintenance
• Maintain a flawless facility which exceeds guest expectations
• Provide services as required for special events, tournaments and competitions.
• Be aware of locker room check in and check out schedule for prioritizing daily duties.
• Enthusiastically service guests while performing a multitude of diverse tasks.
• Deal with outside contractors necessary for facility upkeep.
• Conduct weekly walk-throughs of facility and ensure all fixtures are operable.

Qualification Standards:

• Minimum 2 years' facility maintenance experience working in a structured organization. Familiarity in roller or ice rinks a plus
• Must be skilled in the use of various hand and power tools
• Ability to operate forklift, scissor lift and aerial lift, a plus
• Ability to read and write in English; basic computer proficiency
• Excellent follow through skills, able to complete projects in a timely manner
• Possess knowledge of hazardous materials and comply with proper disposal
• Possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record
• Requires prolonged standing and bending; ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and some holidays as required
• Energetic, self-motivated and eager to lean new operation procedures
